Reflection
Speaking Up
- Trauma taught me to expect less.
- I got used to abuse, so the smallest gesture, a kind word, a smile, or even silence felt huge.
- I didn't realize I should expect more...
- It wasn't until I began to heal that I saw this in myself.
- Asking for more was hard.
- Expecting more was even harder.
- I could not wait for others to give me my share.
- I had to believe in myself first.
- Then I had to require respect.
I learned my lesson.
You can too.
